“What’s the risk? you ask, What’s the percentage gain to my investment? There is no way to answer that. The merchant mind does commerce. But freedom can never be an investment”. Don Juan Hi everyone, Our first upcoming Sacred Spiral Sound Journey was sold out within a few hours of putting the word out. We really looking forward to the event and the good news is there are still a few places left for the second one on the 12th October. Please contact me for more info and booking details: Paul CarlosSinging Bowls although ancient, 3000 years + in Asia, have only relatively recently been making something of an impact into the western world. There main usage is in the monasteries as an adjunct to meditation and other spiritual practices. Uses in the west have now mushroomed to include Spiritual workers and psychologists, music facilitators, musicians, school workers, many applications in Buddhism and Yoga and more. Many of us are now more familiar with the characteristic, usually high, subtle yet complex frequencies that create a droning sound or crisp bell tones of the common bowls. Many sizes and designs are available and most these days are commercially made. The original and ancient method of making them is always by handcrafting – one of the longest traditions of handctafted objects still existing today. Although brass based, the smiths would often blend in a number of different metal alloys such as silver. Other metals may also be used.In our Sound Journeys we use high quality commercial bowls that have a vibrant, pure and accurately pitched tone. The sounds and vibrations, as with all sound, target certain frequency levels within our electromagnetic bodies and aim to create balance and harmony in this zone. Our student teacher and member Beverly Warrender is a ‘Sound Therapist’ and uses a varety of authentic hand made Tibetan bowls and gongs that are specifically tuned to the Chakras within our auric field. You can contact beverly here for more information. Beverly ASANA SPOT This ‘Plank’ pose is a great preparation for the four limbed stick pose,(caturanga dandasana) sometimes called a crocodile Pose. The stomach and legs are held firm, as are the hands and arms. Breathing is quiet and connected, emphasis is on holding the body steady and developing our holding time. Look for a spiral action in the arms starting from the mound of the thumbs and base of index fingers (metacarpal) in the hands, then spiraling to the outside of the upper arms and finishing in the root of the upper arm bone in the shoulder joint. Never collapse into the arms or collapse the lower back (lumbar spine) Also check you have correct alignment in the arms by rotating the inner elbows to face each other. No air gaps under the hands, press flat! The posture develops strength and mental focus when held up to a minute at a a time and longer, with repetition.Move into the posture from a Down Facing Dog Pose on a strong exhalation. Initially hold for around 20 seconds or so and then push back into Down Dog on a strong exhalation. Later develop your holding capacity. The next stage is to start bending the arms while keeping the body straight – no collapsing in the back. The full Nakrasana (Crocodile) has the arms at roughly a 90 degree bend.
