What's in a name??

So, an obvious question I get asked is where did the name ‘The True Riches Of Life’ come from.

Well for those of you who know me as a musician, this is the title of my first album, recorded back in 2005 in a friends studio in Dublin, Ireland.

But how did I come up with this title?… an interesting story..

Every year in Ireland there is whats called the Mind Body Spirit Festival, and when I live in Dublin I use to go to it. I think it was always around St Patrick’s Day or there about. There were all the holistic healers and various astrologers and tarot readers, people selling crystals etc, the usual fair for this type of event, which I must admit I enjoy. There is always a great vibe in places like that as most people who attend are in a good state of mind, so it seems to me anyway.

On one particular occasion I decided to get my tarot cards read as I have always been fascinated with all things alternative shall we say. So, I had a look around and found an older lady named Betty Palko, who apparently was the late Princess Diana’s personal psychic, so I decided to give my hard earned cash to her.

Turned out she was pretty accurate in accessing who I was and what my talents were etc. but the one thing she said to me, and this is where we get to the point of the blog, bear with me, she told me that I deserved the true riches of life.

Now, a while later I was recording my debut album and thinking about a title and this came into my head so I decided to go ahead and use it.

What never entered my head was the fact that I did not have a song on the album called “The True Riches Of Life‘ which seems to be the normal way of naming albums, by a track on the album. I have no idea if other people do this or not but it just seemed to sum up the album I had recorded as it was my first album and it was written over a period of 10 years from when I first started writing songs and playing solo.  The songs on the album had a wide range of emotions and experiences so the title just fit.

For me the true riches of life means all different kinds of experiences from good to not so good and all in between, as without these kinds of experiences in life, how can you learn about yourself and the world?

So, there you have it and now it is also the title of my blog page, as it seems to fit here  too.
